Microsoft believes the Meltdown and Spectre fixes will slow down servers drastically and reduce the performance of personal computers as well. In a blog post, the firm suggested that the slowdowns from the Meltdown and Spectre fixes could be a lot more extensive than Intel suggested previously.

Microsoft to acquire Skype

Microsoft Corp and Skype Global S.à r.l have announced that they have entered into a definitive agreement under which Microsoft will acquire Skype, a global Internet communications company, for US$8.5 billion in cash from the investor group led by Silver Lake. The agreement has been approved by the boards of directors of both Microsoft and Skype.
