According to a recent forecast by Business Monitor International, the UAE consumer electronics market is set to increase AED 10 billion (USD $2.8 billion) in 2010. The consumer electronics market is a key growth sector for emerging markets such as the Middle East, as a tech-savvy population and tourism continue to grow in the country.

Avaya has appointed Tarek Hassaniyeh as regional channel leader for the emerging markets. Hassaniyeh takes over the regional channel responsibilities from Roger El Tawil, former director of channel and marketing for Avaya in the Middle East and now MD for Avaya in the Gulf and Pakistan.

IP and SAN solutions vendor Brocade has appointed long-time networking executive, Alberto Soto, to lead the sales organisation for its Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) geography effective July 1, 2010. Soto will replace Ulrich Plechschmidt, who will be moving to Brocade’s corporate headquarters in San Jose to lead the Global Sales Enablement and the OEM Marketing departments.
