The Jordanian Ministry of ICT has signed a strategic memorandum of understanding (MoU) with HP Jordan to develop common programmes and share expertise and practices to offer state-of-the art integrated technologies for government departments. Hewlett-Packard Personal Systems Group Middle East (HP PSG ME) announced the appointment of Christopher Saul as Business Development Manager for Client Virtualisation. Christopher will be responsible for growing HP's client virtualisation business across the Middle East, closely working with Microsoft, Citrix and VMware to provide thin client, VDI and server based computing solutions to customers. 'Client Virtualisation' refers to HP's thin client hardware and software product portfolio. HP is already the market leader for thin clients in the region.
Avaya, today unveiled its new communications solution Avaya IP Office 7.0 targeting the Small and Medium Businesses in the Middle East region. Avaya IP Office 7.0 completes the integration of Nortel Enterprise Solutions (NES) IP and digital phones into its IP Office platform. This integration now enables approximately 14 million NES users to gain Avaya IP Office’s collaboration capabilities, and can drive 40 to 60 percent in savings for NES customers by enabling them to retain existing phones when upgrading to Avaya IP Office. This upgrade can be accelerated and simplified by a new Data Migration Tool that lets partners transfer a business’ existing data (i.e. voicemails, phone extensions) to their new systems, maintaining productivity without interruption.
As part of the IBM's geographic expansion plans targeting key growth markets in Africa, IBM announced the opening of its office in Dakar, Senegal. The Dakar office is part of IBM's West Africa operations and will allow the company to increase its level of service, and deliver more complex and high-value solutions such as cloud computing and business analytics.
