Transcend unveiled two new external solid-state drives that will make great gifts for gamers who wish to expand the storage capacity of their PS4 and Xbox consoles. The ESD400K Portable SSD is the industry’s first external SSD with MLC NAND flash, pushing the limits of portability and reliability, whereas the ESD220C Portable SSD is capable of delivering up to five times faster performance than the PS4’s default internal hard drive.

ESD400K Portable SSD
The poker-sized ESD400K comes in capacities up to 1TB, along with SuperSpeed USB 3.0 and UASP (USB Attached SCSI Protocol) support to provide up to 10 times the bandwidth of USB 2.0 for blazing-fast read and write speeds of 410MB/s and 380MB/s, respectively. Solid-state storage technology enables the ESD400K to run cool and silent, as well as withstand excessive shock and vibration, while the sleek outer case can be protected against scratches with the included travel pouch.

ESD220C Portable SSD
The credit card-sized ESD220C sports a reflective black enclosure with anti-scratch coating that fits easily in a wallet. Furthermore, the 9.6mm-thin drive features SuperSpeed USB 3.1, UASP and built-in SLC caching technology to achieve exceptional read and write speeds of up to 410MB/s and 400MB/s, respectively. In addition to a USB Type-C port, the ESD220C is also engineered with a RAID engine, LDPC coding, powerful ECC algorithm and 256-bit AES encryption for added peace of mind.

Both the ESD400K and ESD220C are equipped with a convenient auto-backup button for instant data backup and synchronization when used with the exclusive Transcend Elite data management tools.  Users can also lock and unlock the ESD400K or ESD220C via the Transcend Elite app or software (Windows only).

The ESD400K is available in 128GB, 256GB, 512GB and 1TB capacities, while the ESD220C is available in 120GB, 240GB and 480GB capacities. Both external SSDs are covered by Transcend’s Three-year Limited Warranty.
