Noon expands e-commerce footprint in Saudi

E-commerce platform Noon is now live in Saudi Arabia, following an official announcement by Noon’s founder Mohamed Alabbar saying that the e-commerce platform will begin trading starting midday, 12th December. The site will host an array of products, covering fashion, beauty, fitness, sports, technology, games and household goods.

“Noon brings a dynamic, locally-driven and customer-oriented digital marketplace to the Kingdom serving the community and offering a new retail and much improved experience,” Alabbar added.

Earlier this month, Noon announced it had inked a partnership with Saudi’s United Electronics Company, eXtra and M.H. Alshaya Co in order to expand its presence in the Saudi Arabia e-commerce market. The deal with eXtra aims to establishe the Saudi electronics giant as Noon’s exclusive partner for a range of consumer electronics and home appliance items such as Samsung, LG, Sony, Braun, Kenwood and Moulinex.

Additionally, Noon also has a distribution hub, logistics network and will provide an app on both iOS and Android.

When asked about further expansion plans, Noon’s CEO Faraz Khalid told a local news agency that the aim is to focus on the UAE and Saudi Arabia right now.

Headquartered in Riyadh, Noon is a joint venture with the Public Investment Fund and a group of prominent Gulf investors.
