UAE-based telco du has appointed Clinton Haswell as vice president of SME Marketing. Du said Haswell’s appointment reflects the company’s mission to boost SME innovation across the country.

The UAE’s SME market has long played a pivotal role in driving the nation’s economic growth. In Dubai alone, SMEs account for 95% of all firms and contribute to around 40% of the city’s GDP, du said in a statement.

In his role, Haswell will be devising multi-phased SME strategies, developed to support and accommodate the UAE’s thriving SME sector. Haswell’s responsibilities include delivering cutting-edge solutions to business customers, driving regional SME targets and expanding du’s SME portfolio.

“I would like to congratulate Clinton on his appointment as du’s new Vice-President of SME Marketing,” said Hany Fahmy Aly, executive vice president, Enterprise Business, du. “Today’s ever evolving SME sector is rife with growth prospects. Clinton’s vast industry experience coupled with his in-depth understanding of the SME market make him an essential addition to the du family. We are confident in his ability to utilise his business acumen and leadership prowess to meet business customers’ key needs such as value for money, reliability and a suite of innovative products and services. Clinton’s efforts will certainly help cement du’s unwavering commitment to supporting the SME sector in the UAE.”

Haswell added: “I am delighted to accept this unique opportunity to lead du’s SME division. I look forward to working with du’s dynamic team to propel the company’s vision for excellence forward and solidify its staunch dedication to SMEs here in the UAE. My goals will be to ensure that du continues to gain significant traction in the SME market and further strengthens its customer loyalty. After all, our long-term objective is to become the telecom partner of choice for all SMEs in the UAE.”

Haswell joins du from Vodafone Group in London, where he served as group head, CVM partner markets, covering both the consumer and enterprise segments.
