Samsung intros new energy efficient LED lighting solutions at GITEX 2014

Samsung Electronics has announced the launch of its latest range of LED lighting at GITEX 2014, designed to be affordable, energy efficient and cost effective. Samsung unveiled a series of LED replacement lamps including omni-directional bulbs, PAR and MR, and ECG/CCG Tubes for the less efficient incandescent, fluorescent and halogens. Designed with both consumers and enterprise in mind, the latest range from Samsung will offer customers an ideal solution to replace existing inefficient lighting systems, which are being phased out thanks to a soon to be implemented initiative of ESMA, the national standards authority in the UAE.

“At Samsung we have continued to invest in innovation to provide our customers with the most advanced products. Our new LED lighting offering will help our customers see significant cost savings based on energy usage as well as having numerous benefits to the environment,” said Khaled Kamel, Director, Enterprise Business at Samsung Gulf Electronics.

Under the directive of ESMA, the Government is implementing regulations which will see the phase-out of non-efficient technologies like halogen and incandescent. Containing no toxic materials, the Samsung LED lamps (bulbs, candle, MR & PAR) and LED ECG/CCG compatible L-Tubes which are part of the latest range, mean users can enjoy a greener, cleaner natural light.  The tubes contain no mercury, are RoHS compliant and due to their energy efficiency reduce CO2 emissions making them a better light source for people and the environment.

“For sectors such as hospitality and construction, transportation and healthcare, the potential ROI from switching over to LED lighting is huge. We have already seen the widespread adoption of this technology in the aforementioned industries, and we expect this trend to continue. In addition to focusing our efforts on further adoption in these sectors by way of educating those involved in these industries, we will also be looking to educate the general public about the benefits of LED, both for their own person and for the wider environment.” added Kamel.

With a view to encouraging the adoption of LED Lamps and ECG/CCG compatible tubes, Samsung will allow users to instantly replace old incandescent, halogen and fluorescent tubes to Samsung’s high-efficiency LED lighting with no additional installation costs. With ‘plug-and-play’ simplicity, the lamps are available in a variety of standard sizes and fittings, allowing customers to utilize existing ballasts and avoid rewiring or modification costs.

The LED Tubes have a lifetime of up to 50,000 hours, lasting five times longer than traditional fluorescent tubes* and reducing time spent on maintenance. The low energy consumption of the L-Tubes can save users up to 54 percent on their electricity consumption without compromising on light quality or performance, achieving the same level of brightness as traditional fluorescents even though they use less power.

Customers will experience the best luminous performance with pure, glare-free light with fewer flickers and without harmful Ultraviolet (UV) electromagnetic radiation making the Samsung LED LAMPS and Tubes the best alternative. This is particularly beneficial for people in workplaces requiring constant bright light such as parking lots, offices, factories and big box retail. The Lamps and L-Tubes produce a clear, uniform light, which puts less strain on eyes** and the emitted light quality minimalizes long term discoloration or fading of merchandise.
