Tell us about DTK Computer and the products it deals in.
DTK Computer is a taiwan based company founded in 1981. It started its operations as a regional sales office here in UAE in 1996. It was a hub for Africa, Asia and CIS countries. DTK Computer is a manufacturer of workstations, laptops, monitors, netbooks and gaming server.

It was mainly focused on corporate sector, military, manufacturing sector, government, and so on. We have now also started focusing on the end customer segment and since we wanted to address them with cool products, we decided to come up with a new brand called Swift.

Tell us about Swift. What product categories are included under this brand?
Swift is a brand we created to mainly focus on mobility products. This includes tablets, smartphones, Bluetooth headphones, and related accessories. We have started offering our products in the UAE and we plan to expand our footprint across the GCC region in the next few months. We are also focusing on South Africa, some West African countries, West Europe, too.

Swift as a brand has been available on the market for around 7 years now. However, we were not focusing so much on the retail segment of things. We were only offering netbooks and a few other products under the Swift brand. We saw an increased demand for mobility devices on the market and hence decided to revamp the entire product range under the Swift brand.

Where can customers buy your Swift range of products?
We have started working with many retail partners and our products are currently available at Virgin Megastore, Techlink, Lulu Hypermarkets, Carrefour, and tecbuy, among other retail outlets. We are also working with retailers such as Sharaf DG, eMax, Extra, and so on, to bring our products in other markets in this region.

What do you plan to achieve through your participation at GITEX Shopper this year?
Last year we did not participate in GITEX Shopper, directly. This year, in order to amplify the activities around our Swift brand, we decided to participate at GITEX Shopper by having our own stand. To increase the brand awareness of Swift, we are giving free gifts with every purchase and we have some very good bundle offers, too.

We are also offering giveaways through our social media channels and through quiz competition at the GITEX Shopper venue. We want to amplify the activities based around our brand Swift and want to tell visitors to GITEX Shopper that quality does not always have to be expensive.

Tell us about the range of products under the Swift brand.
With Swift, we started very slowly by introducing few models. But now, we are getting more aggressive. We have entry level models that offer good quality user experience. We have around 13 models in tablets and we cover screen sizes ranging from 6.5-inches to 10.1-inches.

We have tablets that run Android operating system and some models that run Windows operating system. We will soon be launching a new smartphone model at GITEX Technology Week, two weeks from now. The new smartphone will be based on Android operating system.

How has the response been for Swift range of products?
We are surprised by the response we have seen so far for our Swift range of products. We want to earn the trust of end users and it will surely take time. But we are focused on offering good quality products at affordable prices. We do not want to cut corners and offer inferior products like other companies do.
