How has the technology and telecom market grown in the MEA region?
Government has taken new initiatives in IT and telecom markets. In the MEA region however, UAE is the leader in the development of the internet segment. Other countries are however starting to catch up.

This is particularly true of the wealthier GCC nations except for Oman, which has the lowest internet penetration and usage rates in the region. In most cases, annual growth rates for 2010 – 2013 stood higher than the CAGR registered for 2007 – 2009, implying rapid uptake in recent times.

Broadband growth rates are particularly impressive in Oman, Qatar and Saudi Arabia given their low penetration levels. The IT landscape is promising, backed by a historic IT budget announced by the government in KSA. However due to stiff competition, the margins are getting narrower thereby creating a cut throat competition among the players.

The MEA IT spending forecast is the leading indicator of major technology trends across the hardware, software, IT services and telecom markets. For more than a decade, global IT and business executives have been using these highly anticipated quarterly reports to recognize market opportunities and challenges, and base their critical business decisions on proven methodologies rather than guesswork.
