Jumbo goes big on Abu Dhabi

With the opening of 4,500 square foot store in the Marina Mall, Jumbo took another step to expanded its footprint in Abu Dhabi.  It now has over 35 stores across UAE and Oman and is now focused on expanding its retail presence in Qatar, Bahrain & Kuwait.  Jumbo also announced that clocked a 25 per cent growth in sales during the recent Dubai Shopping Festival.  

The opening of the store wa presided by Deepak Khetrapal, CEO, Jumbo Electronics; Chief Guest, Kiyoshi Shikano, Senior Vice President, Global Sales & Marketing Head of Sony Corporation; Osamu Miura, Managing Director of Sony Middle East; and Rakesh Khanna, Head of Sony Division, Jumbo Electronics. Jumbo is the exclusive distributor of Sony products in the UAE, and has been for nearly 40 years.

On the occasion Deepak Khetrapal, CEO, Jumbo Electronics said, “Abu Dhabi is a key focus market for us, we currently have six stores in the Capital, including this new outlet in Marina Mall, and will be opening an additional Abu Dhabi store later this year.  As Emirate has grown, we have seen an increased number of visitors in our stores and therefore have plans on expanding our network to meet that demand. Along with its regional expansion plans, Jumbo also plans to grow the brand beyond retail in areas such as IT solutions, expanding on consumer appliances side through its Supra brand, and leveraging its strong distribution capabilities. Non-retail segments currently account for three quarters of Jumbo’s overall business.
